RumpelstiltskinRSS is a web based RSS reader for your Gengo Jobs RSS. After some one-time steps, you can use any browser on any device to alert you for new jobs. As a bonus, RumpelstiltskinRSS does some filtering for you so you will only be alerted if the size and level of the job meet your preferences, taking the time of day into account.
I optimized RumpelstiltskinRSS for my own needs, but tried to make it so that it can be used by all translators. You can find RumpelstiltskinRSS at http://rumpelstiltskin.appje.nl/rss/. For a description how to use it, follow the Introduction link.
Note that you can set the refresh interval to either 31 or 62 seconds. Use 31 for optimal chances to grab a job, without breaching Gengo's demand to access your Jobs RSS at most twice per minute. Or use 62 to test if RumpelstiltskinRSS suits you, while still running your current RSS reader (set to check at most once per minute) on another device.

Today, I published an update to the RumpelstiltskinRSS Android app. The previous version could unexpectedly stop functioning under Android 11 or later. This should now be solved.
If after installing the update you still experience this problem, have a look at "What if the Android app stops refreshing its jobs page?" on my FAQ page for an apparently similar but actually unrelated issue which requires the user to tweak system settings. If that does not help, please contact me directly.
Also, I added a server menu so if you experience some problem with rmpl.nl, you can try one of the other servers.
If you are experiencing issues with my tool these days, you are not the only one.
In my own perception it started with sporadic error messages like "504 Gateway Time-out" or "Internal Server Error" in the RumpelstiltskinRSS browser version, but now these message appear much more frequently. Also, I started receiving user reports yesterday and today mentioning similar problems since a day or two. It looks like the app does not work well either.
I will try to find the cause (and hopefully fix it) today.
Hello Alexander,
There are a lot of similar reports these days on the Community forums concerning other RSS tools ("So, my RSS notifier stopped working" or "Job does not appear on Feeder").
Hope it helps!
Hello fudesaki,
Thanks for your post. In my tests today, there was a problem with one of my servers, but when I tested again later on, that specific problem had gone even though I haven't changed anything.
Right now, rmpl-paid and rmpl-free are very slow, and rmpl gives an error message "504 Gateway Time-out". I am clueless about what's going on.
To be continued.
Whatever the cause was, the problem seems to be over now.
In my tests this morning there were still some issues, but later today my tool became responsive again. I created a script for measuring the performance, and on each server (rmpl, rmpl-paid, rmpl-free) getting the feed information from Gengo took around 0.9 seconds, and caching the information on yet another RumpelstiltskinRSS server took another 0.2 seconds. So refreshing the page in your browser or app should take around 1.1 seconds + the time needed for your device to reach my server.
If you still get an error message, please contact me about it.
If you are using my tool on rmpl-paid.nl, my provider notified me that next Thursday, April 18, between 07:00 and 09:00 AM European time, the server may be offline during 15 minutes for maintenance.
You may want to switch to rmpl-free.nl around that time, since it is hosted by a different provider so it won't be affected. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Two weeks ago, my payment service provider Mollie informed me that according to current insights in the financial world there is an increased risk associated with RumpelstiltskinRSS, so starting next month they would charge me a minimum amount per month to compensate for that risk. Since this minimum is a multiple of what I receive via Mollie, and since in the past two weeks they showed unwilling to discuss alternative ways to mitigate the risk, I will no longer use their service after February 28.
This means that after February 28 you can only pay me via PayPal. Please contact me if that is a problem for you. Sorry for the inconvenience.
