Fingers crossed, Dr. English! We want exactly the same thing :)

Have you guys ever received any jobs? Is there anyone asking for English-Turkish translations?

I should say, the same is happening with Russian. Is there a downturn or something? I get hardly any job notifications, and if I do it's a single 1-dollar assignments.

Yeah, a couple of days ago I got the same type of job. I think this website is in grave need of advertising...
Everyday I check it again and again, but still no jobs :(

Well, I missed two jobs abouta month ago. One was worth $40, and the other was worth $110+. Since then, I have not seen a decent job. I still think that Gengo should invest more in promotions. :) And many thanks to Natalia for her kind reply :)

Hello there, I want to say that the same is happening with English-to -Arabic jobs too, you may say one job per week will be good.

Hello, everyone. The same thing seems to be happening here. Maybe the demand for English to Portuguese translators has decreased a lot. Or is it just my account?! I'm concerned that something might be wrong with it. Is there anyone experiencing the same?

Hi Mel. We recently had a large project for English to Portuguese, but it has since finished and the number of jobs decreased. Hopefully now that the holidays are over the demand will rise up again soon! Don't forget to keep an eye on your dashboard and change your notification settings to every 5 minutes to be up to date.

I noticed a little different thing: Job letter comes in, I INSTANTLY press the button, and - "No jobs currently available"!
It happens so often recently, that it's quite suspicious:) Almost no jobs at all in past year!

@Alex - However, if you look at the timestamp of those emails, you'll notice they're sent at regular intervals (the shortest being 5 minutes), just like in the past. But yes, it has indeed become harder and harder (read "practically impossible") to take jobs in several pairs. I believe that is also due to the fact that Gengo seems to have reopened the tests in already overcrowded pairs – without this being linked to any noticeable pickup in work, also judging by several comments I keep reading.
At any rate, try using a RSS reader rather then relying on emails alone. You might have slightly better chances of actually being able to take a job...

p.s. About the first sentence of my post, I misread the "INSTANTLY" part of yours. I actually thought you were saying email notifications arrived instantly. Sorry about that :)

Beware of using the RSS reader, it can be highly depressing!!!!
I'm kidding, of course...or maybe not.
It's just that I have seen some 15-20 jobs in the feed today and I haven't been able to grab any. Some pretty fast clickers are among us (and we are way too many anyway)...
Sometimes I think it would be better to turn off the reader and live blissfully, thinking that I don't get jobs 'cause there are no jobs...But then, if that was true I might as well quit Gengo, don't you think?

I tried using RSS today — 4 jobs, none of them I was able to grab. I get RSS notification, click it within 1-2 seconds after I get it and SURPRISE — no jobs are available. How could it be?

Same here, I haven't seen a job since the day I became the member of Gengo (last month). I think perhaps English-Vietnamese is a language pair having less job than other, or is it?

Hi Thinh Le Ngoc Bao,
I don't know about English-Vietnamese specifically, but in most language pairs there are far more translators than jobs. Provided there are any jobs in the first place, you may find RumpelstiltskinRSS useful to improve your chances to grab one.

Hi, mate
It's really sad, the maximum I can get are jobs around cents or, sometimes, 1 dollar.
Anyway, I thought it would be a problem with my language pair, but I see it's not.
This month is really horrible... :T

I'm in the same boat.. there are either way too many translators on gengo.com or they're not bringing in enough customers.

I think the situation you're experiencing is caused by a combination of instant job notifications being turned off at the moment (see the News page for more information: http://gengo.com/translator-team/news/) and fewer jobs overall since the big TripAdvisor project ended. While some language pairs see a steady stream of jobs, work for others comes in peaks and troughs. You can read more about this here: https://support.gengo.com/entries/21521352-I-used-to-see-a-lot-of-jobs-and-now-there-are-hardly-any-why-.
