Hey, I was just wondering if  we will see any job opportunities here? I have seen nothing so far and that's pretty weird for a website like this one.

    Hi all,
We had quite a bit of jobs a few months ago in Trip Advisor project but for now Turkish jobs are a bit dry...

There are various reasons for the lack of jobs.

First of all, there is not a lack of jobs. Whenever a job is posted, it is taken by a translator within miliseconds. This is because the website keeps on employing new translators, but the flow of jobs do not tend to increase.

We might also say that the absence of a Turkish interface prevents monolinguals from posting jobs on Gengo, which is a quite possible explanation.

A couple of days ago a job worth about 160 dollars was posted and within just a few seconds it was taken. I strongly believe Gengo should stop employing new translators for a while. Otherwise, we will constantly be taking 2 or 3-word jobs. :)

Thanks for the helpful response, berkaybabaoglu. I've forwarded your comment on to our the person in charge of testing. He will analyze various performance indicators for EN>TR (such as pickup time, translation volume, translator count, etc.) and make a decision about whether or not testing should be turned off.

    Hi,

I am new here. whenever I log in Gengo, it asks me to pass a test to improve that I can do some translation. Although I have chosen my language pair for about two/three weeks ago, I haven't been informed yet. is that normal?

    Hi gumushulusi!

Does this mean that you have not taken any test yet? In order to access to translation jobs, you must pass a multiple-choice short test, and then the Standard test. Once you pass, you will be able to access jobs.

If, on the other hand, what you mean is that you have passed the tests but there are no jobs, the explanation for this is that job volume fluctuates throughout the year - but please rest assured that our Marketing Team is always working hard to bring more customers in!!!

If you have any problem getting started and taking the tests, etc, please contact our support team (support@gengo.com) directly so they can provide you with further guidance!

    Thanks :)

    Hi gumushulusi,

I have just checked and seen that the tests are turned off, so what you referred to in the beginning is that you have registered to receive a notification once they are on again, is my understanding right?

We open and close tests depending on the balance between the volume of jobs and the number of active translators in each language pair, so it is quite difficult to predict when the tests will be open again. If you have completed your registration to receive a notification, I am afraid you may have to wait a little longer - we really appreciate your patience! :)

In the meanwhile, you can have a look at this to get familiar with the system:

Hope this will help and again, please do not hesitate to write directly to Support with any issues that you may have!
