Assalam alaykum, dr. translator!
Your information is correct, we are no longer processing payouts through Skrill.
Hopefully some of your fellow translators can provide more insight on their particular experiences, but I'd like to point out a few things that may help you:
Hope this helps!
Lara
Hi again, dr.translator! :)
I re-read the title of your post and was wondering whether you are referring to the email that we recently sent out about Skrill stopping operations in Japan. If this is the case, the halt in operations is not related to Gengo - it just means that Skrill will no longer be providing its services in Japan, so if you don't live in Japan, you won't be affected by this :)
Some of our translators who've been around for a long time and, due to special circumstances, can't receive their payments via PayPal, are still receiving their payments via Skrill. However, this is a payment method that we have already decommissioned and we don't support it for newer translators, who can only get paid via PayPal at the moment (and hopefully via Payoneer soon as well!)
If you'd still like to switch your payment method over to PayPal, please refer to the information above.
Let me know if you have any further questions!
Lara
Hello Lara, thanks for replying :)
You got me right about the e-mail, thanks I got it now.
But what I understood about our payments now is that we will, as old translators, continue to receive our payouts using skrill as usual?
Thanks :)
Correct :)
As long as you are not in Japan or your Skrill account is not based in Japan, you will continue to receive your payouts on Skrill.
However, we haven't decided yet what will happen once Payoneer is fully implemented and ready to roll. It is possible that we completely decommission Skrill when that happens, so just in case, I'd recommend looking into PayPal and Payoneer in advance, maybe getting and account and getting familiar with them (and making sure they work in your country!) This way, you will be able to switch smoothly if you need to in the future :)
Sounds great ! thanks :)
i'll also check Payoneer and possibility of withdrawing funds to our national banks.
