Hello everyone,

I wanted to discuss this on the forum because it's been a long time coming. I believe ever since "Realtime available jobs" page has been implemented, certain translators use automation through this specific page to accept most high-volume jobs. I know it's against Gengo's policy, but no one seems to catch on this behavior. I wish this real-time page would get cancelled, so everyone gets a chance to work as before. I would like to hear your thoughts about this.

    Hello Esraa,

After the introduction of the "Realtime available jobs" page, I saw a dramatic decline in the use of my tool RumpelstilskinRSS. In fact, I don't even use it myself anymore and plan to discontinue support for it later this year. So in my eyes, the "Realtime available jobs" page meets a need and certainly should not be cancelled.

That said, I can understand your concern some people might abuse this page to catch large jobs. However, when I developed my tool I did quite some research to understand how things work under the hood, and found only one back door, which Gengo has closed later on.

As far as I can see, there is no fundamental difference between the "Realtime available jobs" page and the RSS feed, except for how fast you get to see the information about available jobs. If someone found a way to automatically grab jobs based on the data on the "Realtime available jobs" page, they can use the same trick for the RSS feed and vice versa.

If larger jobs are taken more quickly than smaller ones, that's because more people are eager to grab them. In many language pairs, there simply are many more translators than interesting jobs.

    Hi @Esraa and @Alexander,

Thank you for sharing your perspective and bringing attention to this matter.

We understand that job availability and the speed at which tasks are claimed can be a source of frustration for some translators. However, we would like to emphasize that there is no evidence to support the claim that this issue is driven by widespread use of automation by users it may also be related to a reduced volume of available jobs.

The platform actively monitors for any behavior that violates its policies and takes appropriate action when irregularities are detected. It is important to note that the absence of visible action does not mean that no action is being taken many processes are handled internally. Fast job acceptance is often the result of high engagement and responsiveness from translators who closely monitor available tasks. The “Realtime available jobs” feature was introduced to increase transparency and ensure equal access to jobs in real time.

We appreciate the constructive discussion and remain open to suggestions for improving the platform. At this time, however, we do not plan to discontinue the “Realtime available jobs” functionality.
