Not sure whether to put it here or in the Dutch forums, but with the new Dutch to English translations, the style guide says to put proper nouns and titles in brackets to avoid inconsistent translations. Are we supposed to decide for ourselves when to use this, not that the source text already contains these brackets? I wondered, because when I add triple brackets to a translation without them being present in the source text, the system tells me I have errors I need to fix before submitting.

If I understand correctly, this is something that clients put into their source texts if they want to keep a certain phrase from being translated. In other words, it's not something that the translator puts in themselves, to my knowledge. I am completely new here, however, so you might want to wait to hear from someone a bit more experienced and knowledgeable.

@VdeBoer - Where in the style guide did your read this rule about proper nouns and titles in brackets? Could you give an example of a phrase to be translated with this issue?
