feeders

hi 

anyone savvy with feeder configuration etc? I used work fine but changed laptop recently and notification is hardly ever going off. asked some help feeder.co and was courteously advised that upgrade would solve my problem. however the idea of paying to work takes the right piss so would rather avoid that. if not, recommendation for some feeder app/extension that actually works would be great. Already tried the ones gengo suggests and interestingly enough none of them works.
