Sometimes when you're trying to upload your translated file, you might receive the following error message:

The likely cause of this problem is that the file extension of your translated file doesn't match the requirements set by the customer.

Example:

In the screenshots below, although both files are Word documents, the extensions are different: the accepted file type (left) is .doc (default format for Word 97-2003), and the translated file (right) is .docx file (default format for Word 2007-2010).

Note: if you don’t see file extensions, we recommend changing your defaults settings so that you can. To do this, find Folder options, and in the "View" tab, uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

How do I convert file format?

Once you have identified that this is the problem, you need to convert your file to the correct file format. To do this:

  • Open the file within Microsoft Word
  • Click File / Save As, in "Save as type" and choose "Word 97-2003 Document"
  • Click Save.

The same applies for Excel files (.xls / .xlsx) and PowerPoint files (.ppt / .pptx).
