I think reward per unit should be increased for English to Hindi because it is same as it was 5 years ago that is $0.0150/unit. that's just a thought 😉

    It's actually been longer than 5 years. My official Gengo profile link says I've been working since December 2014, and rates haven't changed for my pair (well, technically, some rates actually went down because of translation memory suggestions, but that's an entirely different subject).

    I don't foresee any imminent rate hikes (increases in "rewards" — which has always struck me as an odd euphemism for payment) because Gengo maintains an excess of translators in most, if not all, pairs. This means that when a job does appear, it's generally snapped up in seconds (with several other eager translators clicking on the link only to be disappointed that the job is already gone).  If Gengo can easily have all the jobs quickly taken by qualified translators who are eager and willing to do the work for the current reward rate, tell me please, what is the incentive to raise compensation?

    I agree with KevanSF. There has only been one increase in rates in my time at Gengo (since 2012), and that must have been around 2014 then (the old rates were 0.08 USD for Pro and 0.03 USD for Standard level). Made the suggestion when filling out the survey, but I don't think it will happen any time soon, for the same reasons.

    Hi everyone.
    Thank you so much for voicing your concern, @Agam. I genuinely appreciate your input as well, @Yasemin and @KevanSF

    We will certainly take your suggestion into consideration. We understand and acknowledge that the value of work can change over time, and it's important for us to ensure that our rates are fair. At present, based on the intricacy of the content and the specific demands of our clients, we feel that the current rates are an accurate reflection of the effort required for these translations. That being said, we are committed to continuously assessing the situation. If there are any changes in the market dynamics, we will certainly reassess our rates.

    Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. 💚🧡

    Hi Rica,

    Just a note re. the rates being an "accurate reflection of the effort required": They have remained unchanged for an entire decade, despite inflation etc. And while Pro level rates can be acceptable for most jobs (despite still being on the lower end), the Standard level payment is way below industry standard (not to mention that occasionally, clients will post their somewhat complex text on "Standard" level).

    I think that the main problem is not the rates, there are almost no jobs avaliable. Gengo should attract new customers first of all.

    Hi doker,

    That is an additional issue, of course. :)

    Definitely Gengo should attract new customers because neither reward has changed over the years nor job collection has increased. In fact I think number of collection has decreased and as soon new job is posted, It is snatched by translator in few seconds. May be this could be the reason price has not increased.

    I know other platforms where rewards have changed during the past years... Always for the worst. So I'm pretty happy that Gengo's sole rate change over the years was a positive one

    @Hugo,

    Well, a reduction of rates (with ongoing inflation) sounds like exploitative tactics and cannot really be the standard to measure anything against, don't you think...

    I do think, but that's something positive about this platform, the biggest downside being the ridiculous Standard rates and the jobs impossible to grab anyway. My latest activity here is working on Lionbridge experimental AI projects and chatting here. I coumdn't care less about adjusted rates if all the jobs are hoarded no matter what
