Hello,
I got a mail below from Dionisio, Isabella in May.
"I am contacting you today for a new and exciting opportunity I think you could be interested in. Please check the details below and, if you think you can be a good fit for the project, please fill in the survey and let us know!"
I sent answer the mail and filled form of "survey".
Isabella said in her mail, "The project will start in the next few weeks and will continue on a regular basis."
However, that project doesn't start yet. It has been over 2 months since I got the mail.
What's going on?
I wonder if I've been scammed.
Please let me know whether this project is real or not.

Hello Katrina,
On the subject of special projects, I seem to remeber that I signed up a long time ago as interested in doing AI-jobs, e.g. marking up images or parts of images with the correct words for the thing being displayed in the image and other AI-related tasks etc. I never heard any more about this. Does Gengo have such projects - and if so how do we go about getting such jobs?
Gunnar
Hello Lattice, thank you for your question. The project that you refer to is indeed real, but unfortunately it did not go ahead in the way that was originally expected in this case. We really appreciate you taking the time to fill in the survey and register your interest, and we hope that you will continue to work on other jobs that become available on the platform.
Isabella tells me that you are listed as one of the selected translators for this project so you should be able to pick up any work that we do receive in it. We hope that all of this information helps!
Hi Lattice - no problem! If you have doubts then it's always best to ask - that's what we're here for :)
Isabella and I would love for you to work on this project if and when work becomes available on it, and we're grateful for all of your hard work so far. If you ever have any other questions, please don't hesitate to come back to us!
Hello Gunnar,
That's a good question! Unfortunately, Gengo is not involved with AI projects any more. After Gengo was acquired by Lionbridge in 2019, the AI division of Lionbridge was in turn acquired by another company called TELUS International, so now Gengo is back to being a translation-only platform.
You can read a couple of press releases about these acquisitions here:
'Lionbridge Augments Artificial Intelligence Offering Through Acquisition of Gengo and Gengo.ai'
'Lionbridge Completes Sale of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Division to TELUS International'
I hope this helps! If you're interested in AI work in general, you could always have a cast around on the internet and see what else is out there. We wouldn't really know about that side of things, but I'm sure there'd be opportunities.
Katrina
Hello Katrina, thank you for your answer.
It's been a long time since I got the email, so I started to suspect it was a scam.
I apologize for wondering if it's a scam or not. :)
Hello, Gunar,
To get access to AI jobs, you can create an account on the Telus International website and follow their updates on AI work available. https://ai.lionbridge.com/cmp/signup
Hope this is helpful.
This project still don't start...............
Hi Lattice, thanks for commenting. As things stand at the moment, there are no updates about the project that you were contacted about in May. As we mentioned previously, Isabella has you as a selected translator for the project, which means that if work ever does become available in it then you should be able to pick some up. However, unfortunately we can't say when or if this might happen.
We really do admire your enthusiasm, and we're grateful for all of the work you've done for us so far.
