I hope you're all doing great :)
I wanted to take a moment to let you guys know that today is my last day at Gengo -- and what a wild ride it has been!
Those of you who've been around for a long time have probably seen me go from translator, to forum moderator/interim community manager, back to translator, and eventually back to community manager, and then to Experience Lead in a span of no less than 8 years in total (5 in the back office!). You may also know that I started working for Gengo remotely as a freelance translator in JA>EN when I lived in Oujda, a small town in the Moroccan side of the border with Algeria. Oh, how life has changed, as I write these lines from what has been my home for the last 2 years and a half in Yokohama today.
During my years as Community Manager / Experience Lead for Gengo, I devoted all of my efforts to helping our translators understand the vision of the company, while representing your voice internally, bridging the gap between the user and the office, and always tried my best to resolve issues (some bigger, some smaller) as they came. We've agreed and disagreed, but such is life, and it is my hope that, at the end of the day, I've been able to convey to you all my commitment to improving your experience and helping as much as I could, when and where I could. I don't take this experience for granted, and I am grateful to all of you for each and every interaction on here.
Going forward, Katrina (whom I'm sure you guys already know and love!) will be taking over our forum moderation and Community-related initiatives in full. She's already been doing wonderful work with our social media for months (go follows us if you don't yet!) and I'm sure it'll only get better from here on out! You can reach her directly at firstname.lastname@example.org but, as always, please continue to bring up technical issues and urgent assistance requests directly with our Support team, as this is the best way for us to keep track of existing bugs and provide prompt assistance.
Once again, thank you all so much for your hard work, dedication, and vibrant energy -- you guys are what makes Gengo amazing! I wish you all the best, and hope that we'll cross paths again one day!
(For anybody wanting to stay connected, I'm pretty easy to find on LinkedIn :P )
