Hi- I am usually based in France and do French-EN translation. All the jobs are on French time and I'm now in the US. This means almost all the jobs I could do are in the middle of the night. Are there any jobs that don't go through the feed or are accessible some other way? (I understand if there aren't, I just wanted to check all options). Thanks!!!

There are many of them, for example when you get Edit or Declined jobs you always see them for the first time.

I'm sorry, I'm confused. Can you elaborate? The only jobs I ever see for translation pass through the RSS. I do get emails when there are transcription jobs available, but that's not very often.

Yes, but when you get Edit or Declined jobs, someone has already received them in their RSS and you see these jobs only now. So there are many jobs like these.

    Hey all :)

I just wanted to chime in to clarify, as the information shared is incorrect.

Edit and declined jobs always go through the RSS feed reader -- however, you may see them for the first time later on because your RSS feed reader didn't pick them up the first time around. This depends on your reader's intervals and how fast the job was picked up when it first came through.

@doker -- please note that RSS feed readers simply "check" your dashboard for changes, i.e. new jobs. They don't directly receive these jobs and the only reason why you wouldn't receive a notification for an incoming job in your dashboard is if it comes in during your interval (after your reader has checked and before it checks again) and is picked up within that timeframe.

@Cheryl -- I assume you're referring to jobs that are conducted off-platform or other categories of non-translation jobs. Our Projects Team usually reaches out to eligible members of the community when any such project comes along. Alternatively, if it's an open project, we would mention it on the dashboard or on our newsletter so that those interested can apply.

    Thanks,

    Lara

There are a few types of jobs that don't show up on the RSS feed, but they are not "available" so to speak.

There are AI projects that show up on the dashboard under a different heading for those selected to participate. Then there are also collections made available through the projects dashboard, which you receive emails for if you are eligible. You do these projects either on memsource or download files as you would from the dashboard.

I didn't start getting emails for tasks on the projects page until after I had translated with Gengo for quite a bit. The AI projects thing on the dashboard didn't open up for me until even later than that.

I do not know what criteria are used to determine who can access these, but I can only assume that they take into account your score, field of expertise, volume translated, as well as the volume of actual tasks involved.

If you look at the customer version of Gengo, you can see where customers are allowed to upload files themselves. I think these are the ones that go straight through to the dashboard for everyone. There is also a spot where it says contact sales for special requests, etc. I believe these ones go to the projects page, although I may be incorrect or oversimplifying the process.

Gengo has project managers that handle projects just like any other agency, so these jobs do exist, although I think a good amount (possibly even most) of the volume of work goes straight to the dashboard due to how convenient it has been made.

Edit: Lara beat me to it!

Yes, there are. As I posted some time ago, there are jobs that don't pass through Feed Notifier (the one I use) and no, they aren't only the rejected ones. To be honest I got some rejected through it. But once in a while I do take a look on the Dashboard and there it is. No matter the reward, quantity of words or if it's pro or standard. It makes no sense.
