Hi everyone,

it is not clear to me who can take part to the transcription test. Only English mothertongue persons or also people of other nationalities who may have rather good knowledge of English?

I don't find where it is specified.

While the final word is up to Gengo, I guess the basic requirement is that you are able to accurately recognize every single word the speaker uses. Even if you have rather good knowledge of English, you may miss parts that are easily recognized by a native speaker.

World-famous throughout the Netherlands is the line "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never gonna keep me down" from the Chumbawamba song Tubthumping, which is easily misheard as "I get knocked down, but I get up again, jullie hebben nog niet betaald" ("... you haven't paid yet").

Most Dutch people can easily understand "you're never gonna keep me down" when they read it, but when they hear it, somehow there is interference with mothertongue words that have a similar sound.
