Hi guys,

I thought it's best to write a new post as this topic seems to merit one. Excited to share that so far, the test run I have been doing (today) with feeder.co works just fine. So far, there is no time lag between email and Feeder notification. Initially, it just said "Gengo job available" or something like that, but Erik made sure that there is now a distinction between "Pro" and "Standard". The notification bell of feeder.co is ringing literally every time there is an instant notification (I must say I missed hearing that sound. :)

For those of you who don't know: They have developed a new functionality of rerouting/forwarding instant email notifications to feeder, since the normal RSS feeder is pretty much useless at the moment (as many of you also noted). The main advantage I see here is that you can refresh the dashboard whenever you hear the Feeder notification bell, or decide to click on only the job level you prefer. This is definitely an improvement to the more general email notification system. It also seems a bit faster, because before, I would click and often not even see the posted job anymore.

I thought I'd share some good news for a change. :)

UPDATE: Erik has now written a guide for setting the forwarding up yourself. This is the link:

    Same as you, the instant notification system made Feeder less effective, indeed... It's very nice if this re-routing test run worked well! Just a question, out of curiosity: could you actually find a way to display jobs' rewards, so as to apply the adequate filters (not to be ringed by the Feeder notification bell all day long)? Thanks!

    Hi Claudius,

    So far, the only filter that can be applied, is pro vs. standard, ie, you could filter out standard, for example. I think as long as Gengo's original instant notifications don't include the reward, it cannot be filtered. Hence I keep saying, please include the rewards. :)

    Hi, Yasemin, thanks for the feedback.

    So, how does Feeder.co work? Is it paid? Is there any delay between Gengo's feed itself and receiving the email (I found some email providers like Outlook took a little more time to actually receive a message). I'm not receiving instant updates atm but already got in touch with the support team about that. Hopefully this new method works for everybody.

    Wow @Yasemin that's great news! I hope they implement it soon.
    Thanks for keeping us up to date :)

    @Leon, yes, feeder.co is a paid service that many of us on here are already using, but its function seemed to be compromised by the introduction of instant notifications and keeping the RSS interval at 60 seconds.

    @Imma, you're welcome. :)

    @Maria, you would have to contact feeder.co.

    @Yasemin

    Thanks for the update. This is good news indeed! :)

    Do you have any idea when this will be implemented? I just checked Feeder's settings and there's no new option that I could spot.

    @SagaGemini,

    I have no idea. I think Erik from Feeder will follow the feed for a few days to see how it behaves, and also do some finetuning (e.g., exclusion of irrelevant stuff etc). But I would expect for it to be available soon. :)

    Update: So I have double-checked with Erik and he has written a guide for setting the forwarding up yourself and said it's OK to share it here. :)

    Thank you so much @Yasemin and of course thanks to @Erik! I've just followed the guide and have already received the first notification, just a few moments before the notification from Gmail itself. Looks like this is going to work! :)

    @Imma,

    Glad to hear! :) Yes, it is a tad faster than gmail, and allows you to grab and also SEE more jobs again. I think it's great.

    Seems to be working over here as well. Many thanks to both Yasemin and Erik! :)

    Are you guys 100% sure that Feeder.co is faster than Gmail in displaying emails it gets from Gmail? Because if not, many of us might buy a Feeder subscription for nothing :)

    @mdj_cm,

    It appears to be a little bit faster, not sure how that works. :)

    @Yasemin Ok, I'll ask the providers about the technical side of it. Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing this with us @Yasemin. And thanks also to the Feeder team. This is great news. I hope they can implement this feature soon and allow us to filter notifications.

    @Enrique, you can already set it up, see link above in the comments. :) (I have now put it as an update in the main post as well).

    Thank you Yasemin, for setting up a link to the tutorial! You did an awesome work.

    It appears the notifications don't send to the job's page like previous notifications used to do, but to the dashboard (https://gengo.com/t/jobs/status/available), and the URL isn't exactly the same as in the emails (which are redirected through https://u5524910.ct.sendgrid.net/[something], taking an exemple from this morning). BUT having sound notifications enabled on desktop is definitely a +1, so we're taking steps forward as Feeder users, I'd say :)

    Hi Claudius,

    You're welcome. :) Yes, they don't link to the exact job but to the dashboard of the job level (ie, pro or standard). Also, I recommend establishing a rule and excluding the keywords "approved", "payout", "reviewed" and "revisions", as those emails come from the same address.

    PS: I saw that you had asked about reward filters. As I assumed, it is not possible currently, because rewards are not (yet?) included in the original notification emails.

    Hello everyone,

    Are you guys managing to grab more jobs thanks to the rerouting of instant email notifications to Feeder? Personally, while I receive three to four times more job notifications thanks to that, it's still virtually impossible to grab any of those collections anyway. The process is simply too slow. The dashboard page takes literally five to ten seconds to load and the overwhelming majority of the time the job is already gone before I even have a chance to click on the job link. Are others experiencing those slow loading times? Before you ask (which would be legitimate), I have a pretty good gaming laptop, a fast internet connection and I very seldom experience slow loading times outside of Gengo. Thanks in advance for any feedback. :)

    Hi SagaGemini :),

    Glad you bring this up, because I also started noticing that. I'd say, up until yesterday or so, I was indeed grabbing more jobs again, but since 1 or 2 days, the dashboard is loading slowly, as you say, so most jobs are gone by the time I click on them, and also, I noticed a delay between a job appearing on the dashboard, and the email/feeder notification (I mean several seconds), which wasn't there before.

    Hello folks! Actually, I'm afraid that only the jobs that previously made it to the Feeder notification popup stage can actually be grabbed. I've been trying like you, with a similar setup, for a similar result: the 0 out of 1 job available. On the other hand, clicking on the link that directly opens the job's page (not an email redirection; the old-fashioned RSS notification, if we can call it like that) helped me get a little work. So... nothing new under the sun, I guess?

    PS: thanks, Yasemin, for your answer about the filters.

    @SagaGemini Same here. As it stands, Gengo still requires us to open dozens of "empty" job notifications daily...

    Don't know who got this marvelous idea in the first place (maybe the grand grand son of Frederick W. Taylor) but it is fair to say that it is not acceptable in any fair or modern business/work relationship...

    So if presumably most of us are experiencing the same issues here and can hardly grab any of those jobs, then who does and how?

    @Claudius, it wasn't like this in the beginning though. :) Sure, some jobs couldn't be grabbed, but it was way faster, so I wonder what happened, another server issue perhaps? Also, I usually don't click on the link itself, but just refresh the job category I am getting notifications for, as soon as I hear the notification bell (faster that way). The notifications were pretty much instant in the beginning, now there seems to be a delay.

    As far as the webite is concerned, it might be as simple as more people knowing about it and using it. Just like the site will slow down when there's a better paying collection that more people try to grab, especially if it's for several languanges at the same time.

    @SagaGemini,

    Yes, I wonder, too. Are bots still a possibility? I have no idea. Maybe people who turn off all notifications and are manually refreshing every 10 seconds. Not sure that would be worth it though. :)

    @Chris,

    I agree, that could be a factor. However, it seems to slow down for even the tiniest of amounts...

    Do you guys use VPN services? I am now connected to a server in the US and it seems to load a bit faster. Not sure if it'll make a real difference though.

    @Yasemin

    I don't, but I doubt it would make a substantial difference because the loading issues here lie with Gengo's servers and nothing you can do on your side will change that (as far as I know).
