Hi all!

I would like to introduce Lara, who will be our working very closely with us in our translator team as Community Manager Support. Some of you may remember Lara from a while ago—she was our interim forum moderator about two years ago and is also a long-term Gengo translator in the JA>EN, JA>ES, EN>ES and ES>EN language pairs.

In her new role, she will be dedicated to moderating and responding to all our forums to ensure our community is heard and the right issues are getting to the right people within the company. This will make sure we are fully aware of our translators' needs and help us to further improve our product. As an experienced Gengo translator herself, Lara’s own background will also be invaluable to us.

She will also be very active on our social media channels where she will be responding to your questions and comments on these platforms and helping to promote Gengo so new customers keep signing up with Gengo! She’ll also be helping out with other community-related initiatives, such as user testing and engagement. She’s fluent in quite a few languages so she’ll be able to get more involved with many more of our translators, too!

Of course, I’ll still be available if you want to contact me about anything at any time (megan.waters@gengo.com). I’m very excited to be working with Lara and I’m sure you’ll all enjoy getting to know her, too.

Welcome back, Lara! You have always been very nice, committed and helpful, so I hope you won't be overwhelmed by the many issues/complaints (old and new) around here. I look forward to your posts!

    Hi everybody!

This is Lara - many of you may already know me as I was Forum Moderator over a year ago, but here is a little self-introduction just in case.

I am originally Spanish (born and raised in Galicia,) but I have living out of my country for the last 14+ years, during which I have lived in the US, Japan (7 years,) UK, and very briefly in India. I currently live in Morocco with my husband, our two daughters, and two cats.

I have been working for Gengo as a translator for the last 3 years in the JA>EN language pair mainly, and in JA>ES and EN>ES / ES>EN as well (though not so actively) and I am very excited to be moving onto this new role within the company.

I can speak Spanish, English, and Japanese, and I am able to read and understand Italian, French, and Portuguese as well. I am also currently trying to learn Moroccan Arabic (without much success, I must admit...)

When I am not on the computer working, you can usually find me playing yoga challenges on Instagram - I am also a certified yoga teacher and I am amazed at how much technology has helped me in picking back up my practice and sharing it with other yogis and yoginis all around the world!

I am looking forward to working closely with you all again!

@Carla, thank you! Though I wasn't posting, I actually never left, and was around working as a translator and checking on the forums from time to time. I have spent the last few weeks reading through them more thoroughly to get a better understanding of everything that is going on, and I hope that together we can achieve great things :D

Welcome, Lara! (I cannot say Welcome back because when you had this role first I was not yet around ...:)

The translator community will be happy when someone takes care of our concerns, and if you studied the threads of the last few months, you certainly will have found a number of questions that hang in the air unanswered.

Happy days to you and everyone,

    Kay-Viktor

    Thanks, Kay-Viktor!

Yes, I am aware of those questions (including your thread re. Minimum Fee and unreasonable requests.) I am looking into everything that is going on and passing on your concerns to the relevant teams to see what can be done. Change however does not happen overnight, and there is only so much that I (and everybody else back at the office) can do at once, so please bear in mind that the process of implementing improvements may take time. Rest assured that I am making all your voices be heard and that, as a translator myself, I understand the importance of your questions and your feedback :)

    Looking forward to working together!
