It's been a couple weeks now that my chance for getting jobs took a noticeable plunge. Most of the jobs, even the small ones (< 1$) are gone the second I clicked them. I feel that this 'symptom' is pretty similar to back when the cache was not working. Of course it could just be my bad luck, but at this point I think there's something else here. Any one feel the same? Could someone from Gengo crosscheck this with the tech team?

I agree -[customer name has been edited out due to privacy reasons] jobs are unworkable at the moment with how slow the workbench is. I wonder if Lara could give us an update on what is being done to resolve the issue?

Right now I managed to get a +6000 word job and it's so bad that it's not just slow, workbench won't even load.

There were three jobs of about the same size. They took ages to load, and I thought I wouldn't be able to grab any of them. One finally loaded, I hit "start translating" and it told me that the job was not available anymore. But then it magically appeared on my incomplete jobs. This is not the first time I have this problem and I believe that it is related to the cache problem somehow, messages take so long to get through that the system gets confused (which could be a totally unfounded belief due to my lack of IT knowledge). Anyway, it's been over 10 minutes now that I clicked on the job to begin working and the page is grey and unresponsive.

I've just experienced the problem mentioned above by Val. I was working on a job when the screen froze. I refreshed and nothing will load, so I'm not even able to decline the rest of the collection!

I've contacted support. We'll see what they say!

Hi all - I'm sorry to hear that this is still ongoing.

Our engineers are still working to solve the issue - please rest assured that I'm communicating daily with the team on the urgency to solve this.

In the meanwhile, it's been brought to our attention that changing browsers may help things go smoother. If you're using Chrome, could you please try Firefox or Safari while the issue lasts?

Thank you so much for your patience!

    Thanks for the update, Lara!

About the browser thing: I normally use Opera, which runs on the same engine as Chrome. Since today, jobs have stopped loading completely and the workbench has become a blank screen (in Opera). The same thing goes for Safari (on my phone). I have also tried Internet Explorer 11 and Edge and in both these browsers loading is still extremely slow (starting with the same blank screen I get in Opera), but at least the jobs do load after about 15 to 20 minutes and I can work on them if I turn the photos and suggested translations off.

    Hi all!

Our Engineering team finally found what seemed to be the cause of the issue earlier today and a fix has been deployed. Would appreciate it if you guys could provide some feedback - are you seeing any improvements? :)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lara,

Unfortunately not, I can not access the workbench at all currently, regardless of which browser I use. I just had support decline a collection I was working on because I could not finish it or even decline it myself without access to the workbench.

Edit: it actually seems to be working again now

I have only done one short job since the anouncement of the fix, so I can't say how definitive this is, but things do indeed seem to have improved!

    Thanks for your efforts, Lara!

I'm getting mixed result here -  sometimes the page loads normally, other times it stucks at blank screen as seen in Xavier's post. Both Opera and Chrome give similar result.

Finally, everything seems to work fine again.

Thank you to the engineers who could identify the different problems and fix them, and special thanks to Lara for her support and help.

Unfortunately, I have to rectify what I said yesterday regarding my assumption that all the problems had been fixed.

Today, again, I have confirmed on two occasions that collections either unload even slower than before or they remain there motionless for ages.

Hi everyone and thank you Lara for the update,

As far as I'm concerned, I don't see any improvements... The workbench takes several minutes to load (if at all) and "https://gengo.com/t/jobs" doesn't load at all. I'm using Chrome and I get the same issue with other browsers.

    Hello, Draper,

Same issue on my side, I’ve notified it to support and I’ve been told that the engineers are working hard to fix the unloading problem.

    Regards

Thank you all for the feedback - I've passed it to our Engineering team and will be following up with them during the week.

For me, the issue with the workbench crashing on large collections seems to have stopped now - thank you to Lara and the engineering team for their efforts.

However, the issue with slow loading seems to have got worse; I had a $6 [customer name has been edited out due to privacy reasons] job this morning that took 55 minutes because of frequent 'unable to save' and 'please refresh' errors, and in each case it would take three or four minutes for the page to reload. Just now, I had another [customer name has been edited out due to privacy reasons] job which started with a 'please refresh' error and then would not load the rest of the job when scrolling down. I don't know whether this is just an issue with my connection or whether it is an issue with the workbench itself?

I don't want to spam this thread, but having just had the same issue again I took a screenshot in case it is useful to Lara/the engineering team. This is all I see when I click on a job from the RSS page:

Update 8/2: Workbench is still occasionally freezing, while file-based job page loads normally.

I just finished another (fairly large) collection and I got the impression that the workbench was slower than ever this time. I had to type a line, then wait a few seconds for the text to appear, then type another line, wait a few seconds again, scroll down to the next job, wait a few seconds for the page to actually move, click on the text box of a job, wait a few seconds for the cursor to appear, type a line, etc. (You get the idea.) All this got progressively worse as I worked my way through the collection.

It helps a lot to filter jobs in a large collection, to speed up the workbench. Click Filter, then choose Empty.

@Quesada - would you be able to provide the Job ID # for the specific collection you mention above? We'd like to take a closer look at it. Thanks in advance!

@sebastian: Thanks for the advice! I'll give it a try!

@Lara: The ID was #20059350. I hope this is helpful in some way :)

    Hi everyone,

Just a quick message to let you know that the workbench has been loading fine for me since Monday. Hopefully it stays this way!

For me, longer collections (around 1000 words or more) still cause lag in typing. Shorter ones are fine, although I still turn off the job comments/photos and matches to make things run more smoothly.

Just finished working on a 900 words collection (job id #20075175), the lag in typing is still there.

I'm typing on Word/Notepad and copypasting in the workbench. While annoying, the lag is even more annoying and makes me worry about possible errors and missing words.

I'm saying this with some reservation, but things seem to be working better now :)
