So, about the 100+ standard jobs currently in the JP>EN category for translating F status updates.
They're updates from different people, have no coherent theme, and are pretty badly written overall.
I'm not complaining about the work, but completely baffled as to why someone would pay good money to translate that lot of waffle.
Don't suppose any of the gengo staff can shed some light on this mystery?

Actually, EN>JP category also got the same kind of massive facebook jobs. And today I found one of them I partly translated was in "Held" status, seemingly the customer rejected the whole bunch, even though most of them seem to have a fair quality of translations.

I can't stop thinking something is wrong here, and of course I'm worrying about my score and track record. Of course I tried my best to catch the meaning of these random F posts, having searched for context as possible, but I'm afraid some of them couldn't be said a good translation.

I doubt the customer would have abused the system for some reason. I hope Gengo could research and explain about the case.

You're right! Mine are also on hold today. First time I've seen that on Gengo.com.

    Hi there,

I'm not sure about what these jobs are but it sounds like it might be a project. I'll check for you guys later, but I wanted to post asap to let you know about the "Held status" situation that you both mention.

When a job is rejected, you receive an email stating so, and the jobs go into Held status until they're reviewed by a Language Specialist to determine whether the job meets our quality standards or not. If you haven't received any email saying the jobs have been rejected, which I don't think is the case, these are likely jobs which the customer has selected to undergo revision by an LS before delivery. If the LS finds any errors in the translation, jobs will be returned to you to give you the chance to make corrections before final delivery to the customer.

We announced this service in our June newsletter, and it has been discussed in this forum post as well :)

    Hope this helps!

Back when Gengo had proofreading service, they were only available for pro jobs, but these F jobs were ordered at standard level.  Does Gengo now offer revision service by LS for standard jobs also?  The collections that I partially worked on yesterday are also now in held status.

    Hi all,

After checking, I've found out that these jobs were not actually selected for Revision service, but were put on "Held" status while our team solves some issues with the client. Please rest assured that you guys will get paid for your work and, for further questions, don't hesitate to contact support@gengo.com directly.

For future reference, though, and answering HAR's question, the new Revision service is an option that a client can add to their order regardless of tier, so yes, Standard jobs could potentially be selected for the Revision service.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you Lara! I also got the same answer from support yesterday, I was relieved that it was not system abuse. Thank you for your quick and kind explanation.
