Hello everyone,
Thank you, alshep, for opening this topic again. I think in order to draw Gengo developers' team's attention to this problem, we have to post in English here. Please, do post everyone in ENG to RU pair who recently have faced the same problem of the jobs disappearing from the dashboard in half a second. I am also convinced that some translators are using software which is prohibited by Gengo policy because a human cannot open a job and consider if it is suitable and accept it in half a second. To have a full picture, everyone please share similar or opposite experience here in English about the process of picking up jobs in the last few months. If you are lazy, just put +1 or -1 in the comment section. Have a nice day!
I have been working for Gengo for 5+ years and have been making very good money. I have been loyal and felt like a part of Gengo team. Nowadays I actually feel frustrated and left alone. The care and help for translators have always been outstanding, Nowadays for around half a year I virtually do not get any jobs. I have my way to see them coming and in half a second gone. There is no human way to solve this problem and I do NOT understand the reason why the Gengo professional developpers who can keep this whole big machine going, would not look into this problem. I guess the ones who take all the jobs satisfy Gengo needs. I do not see other reason but reluctance.
AnastasiaM: Looks like you hit the nail on the head: I do not believe it is humanly possible to examine and snatch a job in a second. Something must be wrong here (with jobs allocation). And a general note: the last time I saw a job offered was three or four weeks ago, it remained visible for a second or two. And before that a job had been posted a month or so prior (at least that's what I was able to see - and to land a tiny part of it, must have been a really large project). AND THAT HAS BEEN THE ONLY JOB I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TAKE TO DATE - over the two years or so since I took and passed the test. I am giving up on Gengo - it is not worth the time an effort, there are much better options for a freelance translator.
My RSS feeder shows about 1 new job a month. Is it really so or something's wrong on my side?
to A.M.
Actually, RSS shows more jobs but it's of no avail: when you get into the Gengo Dashboard (even if you do that very quickly), all jobs are gone long ago. The suspected robot grabs all new jobs in a split second leaving all human translators jobless.
Six large Pro projects disappeared in seconds. Still want to assure us that there are no robots here?
alshep, what RSS reader do you use? Mine doesn't show anything lately
To A.M.
I don't often keep my RSS browser open, but when I do so the RSS sometimes shows a few jobs per day. 2 or 3 or 4 or more. But, as I mentioned before, it's of no avail because of the robots.
I use RumpelstiltskinRSS

Hi everyone! It seems that the same "robot snatching all the jobs" situation is occurring again right now. Has anyone noticed??
Absolutely. My feeling is this situation has been going on for months and months. My experience has been you respond to an email job notification ("new collection available") the moment it appears in your mailbox and what you get is "looks like there are no collections...". Frustrating.
Oleg, thanks for your reply. Using RSS feed I was able to get some jobs, not many, just enough to boost my mood. In such not very good times with all this COVID-19 outbreak it is extremely helpful. But during the last two-three weeks it became impossible to get any.
Here's the description of how I experience it: for example, I get the job notification from my RSS feed application, immediately click on the link, and while the page is being loaded in my browser, the job has already been taken away. A human being is physically unable to be so fast in claiming jobs. I think that some kind of a robot-programm is used by someone to grab available jobs.
Let's wait for some other of our colleagues affected by this serious problem. Maybe even Technical Support will see our writings.
What RSS app do you use, guys?
I personally use Feed Notifier. All the information about using RSS feed reader is presented in this article:
https://support.gengo.com/hc/en-us/articles/231441187-How-do-I-set-up-and-use-an-RSS-feed-reader-
Yesterday I got an email with a survey asking to mark whether I think that reCAPTCHA is needed.
I think that if everybody gets reCAPTCHA for a specific job, then it is fine, but if it appears for some translators and not for some others, then it is not fair.
So I was not able to complete the survey because it had only two options - yes or no.
Why do you think it appears not for everyone?
I did not write that I think that it appears not for everyone. I just don't know, and that is why I was not able to answer to the question in the survey.
