I had been receiving pop notifications at the corner of my screen as soon as new collections would become available, but, for over a month now, I haven't received any whatsoever. I don't understand much about these things and tried to, but to no success so far. I've sent Gengo e-mails to help me, but they haven't been able to figure out what the issue could be. They said that it's all OK with my account. At first, I thought that I wasn't being sent jobs for whatever reasons, then I received an e-mail from Lionbridge with the weekly overview of my account and the chart showed lots of jobs I had actually lost! Then I realized there was a problem. I use Chrome and the RSS Feed Reader, which, as I said before, was working perfectly. I have not changed the settings so I was also wondering if perhaps my free plan expired??? I found nowhere nothing about it. Do the pop-up notifications have to do with the plan you have? I'm usually in front of my screen for most hours of the day so if there is any notification pop-up I'm able to claim it as soon as it appears. Another thing is that my Dashboard is like this now:

I feel frustrated.

Hi Karine, I don't know your language combination and how busy it is, and I don't have an answer about feed notifications. I just wanted to point out that the numbers in the weekly report are not an overview of your account, but the total number on units for your language combination. That is the number of units available to all the translators in your language pair, not just you...

Hi Karine, same here since June/July. Totally unusual. My Gengo's earnings have been divided by 4 and it has never happened before. Very few jobs and very small ones. Probably because of agency bots. I use another RSS tool than yours. Gengo/Lionbridge should do something about it but they don't.

Hi @Karine, Thank you for sharing your experience and concern in our community forum. Also, thanks to @carla and @logos for sharing your answers and experiences as well. These are all highly appreciated! <3

As explained by Carla, your language pair (LP) may not be busy for the past few months. Also, the weekly stats overview we are sending is the overall data on your LP ordered in the previous week and not solely on your account.

Regarding the RSS feeders issue, these are not developed and maintained by Gengo, so it's really hard for us to resolve any issue you have with them. You can try to set it up again. This support article has more information about it.

I apologize if we don't have any concrete means yet to stop the bot usage. We are still looking into this issue. If ever you think someone is using a bot, please report them to our support team at support@gengo.com.

    Many thanks// Rica

    Hi Karine,

as you mentioned that you are using Feeder's free plan, I would recommend that you get Feeder Pro in order to install the Gengo Power-up and to be able to receive updates every 5 seconds. I think with the free plan you cannot set this interval, and without fast updates it is really hard to get any jobs.

Another idea I had was to install another RSS feed like Feed Notifier, in order to test if the problem is indeed with your RSS feed provider or with the lack of jobs or another problem at Gengo. If you do not receive jobs there as well, it is likely there really are none. And if you start receiving jobs there, you also solved your problem. Fast updates on Feed Notifier are free, by the way.

Also, as Rica already said, if you have indeed a problem with your RSS tool, you should contact them. I use Feeder and rarely have issues with them, but sometimes, their feed is delayed.

Best of luck, I hope you can solve your problem!

The free plan of RSS Feed Reader has only 2 hours update speed so there is no wonder that you don't see any jobs. You can see it here: https://feeder.co/pricing

I have IFTTT set up on my phone. It sends me a push notification every time there's a new item being posted to the RSS feed.

Like the others said, when something good pops up, you have to grab it within seconds of it being posted.

Bettina - according to this article (  How do I claim jobs? – Support (gengo.com)  ) Gengo uses a cache mechanism that only refreshes every 60 seconds, so then there is no point in setting your RSS to check every 5 seconds, is there? Or am I missing something?

    Hi gunnarbu,

You are probably right, that is how I understand it as well. I just set my RSS feed up this way because it is possible and will not do any harm :-) As I have to pay for the Pro version anyway even in order to get 60 seconds updates ... I think the question should go to Feeder as to why they have this option if it does not make sense (marketing?).

Dear Bettina, how much is the Gengo Power-up in Feeder Pro? Thanks.

Hello Rye, I am not using it anymore, but I used to pay USD 7.99 per month for Feeder Pro version including the Gengo Power-up. Hope this helps!

Hello Bettina, thanks for the reply. Why did you stop using it? Is there a better app than Feeder Pro?

    Sincerely,

    Hi Rye,

I stopped using it at the time when the RSS feed did not work, as there was no point in paying for it. Now I am using Feed Notifier. It is a desktop app rather than a browser app, and works just as good as Feeder in my opinion. And it is free, so that is why I never came back to Feeder Pro.

    Best regards,

    Bettina

Hi Bettina, thank you so much! Does Feed Notifier also have a mobile app? Do you also get notified on your mobile phone?

    Sincerely,

    Hi Rye,

You are welcome! I don't think Feed Notifier has a mobile app. I don't need Gengo RSS notifications on my mobile phone so I never researched it, but I just checked and did not find one. If you need it on the mobile phone, Feeder Pro is probably a good (better) option.

    Best regards,

    Bettina

    Dear Bettina,

Since you mentioned that Feed Notifier is a desktop app, what if your laptop/computer is off? How do you get notified of available Gengo jobs then?

    Sincerely,

    Rye

    Hi Rye,

I only translate on my laptop, so when I am not at home/on my laptop, I simply do not get notified of jobs.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Bettina,

Thanks. You also mentioned that Feeder Pro cost you USD 7.99 per month. However, if you visit https://feeder.co/pricing, it states that Feeder Pro costs USD 14.99. Why is there such a huge difference?

    Sincerely,

    Rye

    Hi Rye,

You are right - I just checked and they seem to have updated their pricing and introduced the Feeder Plus plan. So yes, it seems you have to pay $14.99 now if you want Feeder Pro with updates every minute :-( When I subscribed, there were only the Free and Pro plans, the latter costing $7.99.

    All the best,

    Bettina

    Hi Bettina,

That's so huge a price increase. Up until last month, was it just USD 7.99?

    Hi Rye,

My last invoice is from months ago. I don't know when they changed the prices - maybe someone else on this Forum knows?

    Best regards,
